{"id":1233,"date":"2015-07-29T15:07:46","date_gmt":"2015-07-29T20:07:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lucyssewinglab.com\/?p=1233"},"modified":"2015-07-29T15:07:46","modified_gmt":"2015-07-29T20:07:46","slug":"vintage-irons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lucyssewinglab.com\/?p=1233","title":{"rendered":"Vintage Irons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vintage irons make me so happy! \u00a0I remember them as a child. \u00a0My grandmother had several with and without cords. \u00a0I also remember being told <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.megannielsen.com\/2012\/10\/the-importance-of-ironing-pressing-your-sewing-creations-2\/\">pressing<\/a> is the most important part of sewing. \u00a0Nothing, in my opinion, compares to a vintage iron. \u00a0They are heavy, get super hot, super fast, and look cool. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Saturday, I was driving through my neighborhood and stumbled upon an ESTATE SALE. \u00a0Not one of those where the people come in and price everything and have their yellow signs everywhere. \u00a0Those prices are generally too high to bring me happiness. \u00a0This estate sale was operated by the family members. \u00a0They were so kind and helpful. \u00a0I walked in and immediately found my true love. \u00a0A vintage ironing board! \u00a0<code>[envira-gallery id=\"1241\"]<\/code><br \/>\n<code>[envira-gallery slug=\"ironing-board\"]<\/code>Is it just me or do they make these things today too flimsy to even use for fear of them bending under pressure? \u00a0Okay, LOVE it, want it, need it, and it&#8217;s half price! \u00a0So, the ironing board sold for half of $15 that \u00a0was marked on it. \u00a0I found lots of other wonderful things there as well, \u00a0I&#8217;ll wait and share those later.<\/p>\n<p>I purchased the new love of my life, a Sunbeam steam iron. \u00a0The iron is so special, it has the date written inside of the box, &#8220;December 25, 1962.&#8221; \u00a0<code>[envira-gallery id=\"1237\"]<\/code><br \/>\n<code>[envira-gallery slug=\"vintage-iron\"]<\/code>It works amazingly well. \u00a0Of course, since the hubby does not sew, I had to explain to him how important this iron is to my life. \u00a0How the weight of the iron helps set the seam. \u00a0This was not an easy concept to explain. \u00a0Thankfully I was wearing a color blocked dress I made. \u00a0I pointed out where the two colors met. I told him, when the fabric is properly pressed, the two colors appear as one piece of fabric. I guess he understood that, he nodded. lol<\/p>\n<p>When I came home I had to research the vintage irons, to make sure I was not just an emotional nut.
