Finding a pattern isn&#8217;t that hard to do, right? \u00a0Walk into the store, browse the book, pick a pattern. The process of fabric shopping is entirely another process which can take quite awhile. \u00a0Hopefully, this blog post will help in determining the type of fabric to choose.<\/p>\n<p>Probably the easiest thing to do is to look at the back of the pattern. It will have a list of recommended fabric for the garment. \u00a0So, what if you do not like to sew or wear the fabric the manufacturer recommends? \u00a0Through the process of trial and error, I have found the following list to be pretty helpful. \u00a0Some of the suggestions came from <a href=\"www.threadsmagazine.com\">Threads Magazine<\/a>, while the others are personal preference through trial and error.<\/p>\n<p>Pants: Depending on the style the following list works<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Linen<\/li>\n<li>Stretch poplin<\/li>\n<li>Denim<\/li>\n<li>Cotton Lycra (4 way stretch)<\/li>\n<li>Fleece<\/li>\n<li>Jersey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shirts, blouses, and tee shirts<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jersey Knit<\/li>\n<li>Interlock Knit<\/li>\n<li>Sweatshirt fleece<\/li>\n<li>Cotton Voile<\/li>\n<li>Rayon Challis<\/li>\n<li>Double gauze<\/li>\n<li>Silk<\/li>\n<li>Chambray<\/li>\n<li>Cotton lawn<\/li>\n<li>Linen<\/li>\n<li>Flannel<\/li>\n<li>Sweater Knit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Skirts<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knits, all varieties depending on the pattern and the desired drape<\/li>\n<li>Cotton Lawn<\/li>\n<li>Stretch cottons<\/li>\n<li>Rayon Challis<\/li>\n<li>Denim<\/li>\n<li>Linen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dresses<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knit<\/li>\n<li>Cotton Lawn<\/li>\n<li>Ponte Knit<\/li>\n<li>Rayon Challis<\/li>\n<li>Double Gauze<\/li>\n<li>Silk<\/li>\n<li>Satin<\/li>\n<li>Lace (with a lining of course)<\/li>\n<li>Wool<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Loungewear<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rayon Knit<\/li>\n<li>Interlock Knit<\/li>\n<li>Jersey Knit<\/li>\n<li>Fleece<\/li>\n<li>Stretch French Terry<\/li>\n<li>Silk<\/li>\n<li>Satin<\/li>\n<li>Flannel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Determining the fabric for clothing can be confusing.
